The federation of bank employee unions (OTOE) rejected on Monday all of the proposals submitted by bank managements in their first meeting to discuss the possible signing of a new sector contract.
OTOE said that bank representatives asked for employee salaries to be reduced by 15 to 20 percent. They also reportedly insisted on abolishing certain institutional rights of their staff – such as established working hours – qualifying such issues as «insignificant» in today’s conditions.
The federation called for the immediate withdrawal of the proposals, which it deemed ‘provocative,’ in order for negotiations to begin.
"In no way will we accept proposals aimed at leveling downward the incomes of bank employees,» the federation’s statement read.
The only point on which the two sides agreed was to meet again on March 11, OTOE said.
