Outgoing FinMin 'to take NBG top job'

Outgoing Finance Minister Giorgos Zannias is to be appointed the new chairman of National Bank of Greece, the country's largest lender, replacing the original finance minister-designate Vassilis Rapanos who resigned on Wednesday, Skai reported on Thursday.

According to sources, the bank's current chief executive officer Apostolos Tamvakakis is to submit his resignation immediately after a general meeting that was still in progress early Thursday afternoon. Tamvakakis is expected to be replaced by Alexandros Tourkolias, currently the bank's alternate CEO.

Zannias is in Brussels with a Greek delegation led by President Karolos Papoulias and is not expected to return to Athens until late on Friday.
