Bourse posts correction in absence of developments
The Greek stock market’s readiness for a correction and the absence of any concrete news on the Emporiki Bank front saw the local bourse take some losses on Tuesday.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 631.41 points, shedding 2.27 percent from Monday’s closing figure of 646.08 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index contracted by 2.59 percent to end at 227.63 points.
Bank of Cyprus declined by 6.99 percent, followed by Alpha Bank (down 5.04 percent) and National Bank (4.90 percent). Jumbo added 2.08 percent.
In total, 36 stocks posted gains, 81 registered losses and 19 remained unchanged.
Turnover amounted to 22.1 million euros, down from Monday’s 30.6 million.
