Deposits at Greek banks continue to grow

Deposits in Greek banks grew by an estimated 916 million euros in October compared to the previous month, continuing the marginally rising trend noted since the June elections.

The sum of deposits came to 155.2 billion euros last month from 154.3 billion at the end of September, while in comparison with October 2011 there was a decline of 21.2 billion euros, or 12 percent, according to Bank of Greece data.

The small recovery of deposits in October came exclusively from corporate funds as their deposits grew from 23.4 billion in September to 24.2 billion last month.

On the other hand, household deposits stayed put at 130.9 billion euros, out of which 80.3 billion concerned time deposits.
