A window of opportunity

The people of Greece have shown great maturity and fortitude in the face of immense difficulties, but they do harbor a vast amount of anger toward the political system, and justly too.

This anger is being manipulated by extreme political forces that cultivate intolerance and paranoia without ever putting forth any valid proposals for how they intend to govern the country if called upon to do so.

The anger is still there, but public opinion now knows that the crisis has swept over many other countries and that there is no magical solution. The people also understand that the antidote to soaring unemployment is not a mixture of political instability and never-ending protests.

The government has a unique window of opportunity that will probably last only a couple of months to get Greece on the road to stability and growth. For this to happen, however, the government cannot go back to the old ways of running the country.
