The worst kind of message

It will be particularly difficult, if not outright impossible, for Greece to get back on the road to growth without foreign investment.

Despite this, however, certain political forces have declared war on major international investment, a case in point being the Hellas Gold mining project in northern Greece.

While there could be room for improvement with regard to a number of environmental and other terms concerning this specific investment, it is extremely hard to reach a decent compromise when extreme opinions and ideological obsessions prevail.

If this particular investment were to be canceled, it would send the worst kind of message to anyone considering investing in this country.

It would also become blatantly clear that state and judicial decisions are inconsequential and that each and every investor in Greece is hanging in midair.
