Futile policy

The policy that Israel has been pursuing vis-a-vis the Palestinians is wrong and futile. Current tactics have failed to resolve the security issue and, at the same time, they are rapidly draining Tel Aviv’s political capital around the world.

The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza is unacceptable. Furthermore, the rising death toll is breeding anger and frustration among the Palestinian population, while playing into the hands of terrorists and the more radical elements.

Israel’s aggressive settlement policy and the lack of genuine efforts to reach a solution with its Palestinian neighbors over the previous years have created a devastating and impossible deadlock.

Even outsiders who have traditionally supported Israel’s right to ensure its survival and protect its security by fighting against terror have over the past few weeks seen their patience run extremely thin.
