Moonlight Concerts

To celebrate the August full moon this Saturday, archaeological sites all over Greece will be open in the evening and many of them will host concerts. There will be classical music by Austrian ensembles around Corinth, classical and entechno at the National Archaeological Museum, theater music by Iraklis Paschalidis at the Numismatic Museum.

Lots of towns all over Greece have organized traditional feasts with Greek music, dances and delicacies, for the traditional August 15 Dormition of the Virgin holiday. There will be celebrations in Corfu, Lefkada, Crete, Paros, Larissa, Ioannina, Sikinos and among others.

‘Medea’

Director Anatoly Vasiliev’s version of Euripides’ tragedy “Medea,” starring Lydia Koniordou and Nikos Psarras, will be staged by the Municipal Regional Theater of Patras at the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus on Friday and Saturday. MUSIC
Farantouri & Frintzila

- Saturday
Vocalists Maria Farantouri and Martha Frintzila will join forces for a concert of melodies from all over the world as well as Greek music, at the Sani Festival in Halkidiki on Saturday. Tickets can be purchased at Thessaloniki’s Stereodisk and Jazz & Classic stores as well as the Sani Resort hotel in Halkidiki.

The jazz quartet of Lito Vogiatzoglou, Andreas Polyzogopoulos, Vassilis Stefanopoulos and Nikos Papavranoussis will give a concert at the Sifnos Cultural Center this Sunday. The show will start at 9 p.m.
