GREECE, CYPRUS AND UN: New York, August 3 (From our correspondent, A.A. Antonakakis) - At the UN General Assembly today, Greece warned Britain that it supported the principle of “open doors” at the UN on colonial matters. The Greek representative, Mr A. Kyrou, speaking on the Moroccan question, said that Greece wanted the UN’s doors to be open over the question of colonial issues, because apart from the legal questions and those of general international policy, it has an interest in the fate of Cyprus (...). Many representatives now believe that it will not be long before Greece raises the Cyprus issue for debate at the world body. Mr Kyrou said the question of Cyprus will be raised at the UN only if the friendly talks between Britain and Greece on Cyprus do not take place or are not conclusive. EDEN IN GREECE: The British Foreign Secretary, Mr Anthony Eden, arrived on board the cruiser Surprise at 10.30 a.m. on Sunday, August 30. Mr Eden is due to spend the last part of his convalescence at the Kavouri estate of the British ambassador. BEAUTY CONTEST: On Saturday evening, a group of Orthodox faithful led by Archimandrite Avgoustinos Kantinotis created disturbances that resulted in the cancellation of a beauty contest being held at the Pallas Theater in Piraeus.
