Selection: Michalis Katsigeras

EVANGELOS KALANTZIS: The interior minister, Mr Evangelos Kalantzis, yesterday released detailed evidence that has emerged from the interrogation of arrested cadres of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) which shows the true purpose of the illegal KKE's activities in Greece. Based on the aforementioned evidence, it appears that senior KKE officials behind the Iron Curtain sent senior cadres to Greece in 1955, including members of the Central Committee. They managed to establish a team of the committee's political bureau in Athens to lead the party's organization and espionage work on a nationwide scale, led by Mr G. Gourstas (aka Vrondisios). IOANNIS PASALIDIS: The head of the United Democratic Left (EDA), Mr Ioannis Pasalidis, made lengthy announcements yesterday emphasizing, among other things, that that it was a violation of the constitution and a «cruel type of police state» to provide certificates of patriotism to political parties and then for the secret service and the minister in charge of security (i.e. Kalantzis) to question their patriotism.
