GREECE AND SUEZ WAR: The Greek Cabinet met yesterday to discuss the situation in the Middle East and to determine Greece’s stance at the coming emergency session of the UN General Assembly, which was called by the Security Council following the attack on Egypt by Israel, Britain and France. Prime Minister Constantine Karamanlis and Foreign Minister Evangelos Averof spoke by telephone with Greece’s permanent representative to the UN, Mr Christos Xanthopoulos-Palamas, and gave him instructions regarding the position he should take at the debate. According to those instructions, Greece’s representative is to condemn the action by Israel, Britain and France as a violation of the UN Charter and to ask for the immediate withdrawal of foreign troops from Egyptian territory. CYPRIOT UPRISING: Nicosia, 29 - A large crowd of people filled Limassol Cathedral yesterday for a service to commemorate the October 28 anniversary of the Italian attack against Greece in 1940. A demonstration followed. The British used tear gas and weapons to break up the demonstrators, who threw stones at the British soldiers. A bullet hit an 11-year-old Cypriot demonstrator.
