Selection: Michalis Katsigeras

KARAMANLIS TAKES POPULAR MEASURES: The government yesterday evening submitted to the Appropriations Committee three basic draft legislative decrees. The draft decrees, submitted by Minister of Finance Andreas Apostolidis and his deputy, Leonidas Dertilis, are within the framework of the government’s economic policy and are aimed at (a) reducing the prices of basic necessities such as sugar, cod, herring, frozen meat, feta cheese etc, (b) protecting the domestic industry, in particular the branches of ironworks, wood and production of electrical appliances (hot water heaters, refrigerators, cookers etc), and (c) protecting Greek workers through granting permits to industrial enterprises facing difficulties and having come under compulsory management to participate in auctions conducted by the government or public sector organizations. LAW SCHOOL ENTRIES: The following have gained entry into the Law School of the University of Athens following examinations (in alphabetical order): [...] Georgios Alfantakis [...] Georgios Zorbas [...] Petros Kounalakis [...] Aristides Manolakos.
