KARAMANLIS TO THE FORE: (Kathimerini’s top story) A major, positive service for the country. The minister, Mr Constantine Karamanlis, has announced a program of road and land reclamation works in a major effort to increase production. A total of 210 billion drachmas are budgeted for roadworks, 30 billion for bridges, 13 for port construction, seven for the airport, six for public buildings and 89 for land reclamation works. The public works minister will organize construction on site. EDEN IN GREECE: The British foreign secretary, Mr Anthony Eden, arrived on board the cruiser Surprise at 10.30 a.m. on Sunday, August 30. Mr Eden is to spend the last part of his convalescence at the Kavouri estate of the British ambassador. GREECE-BULGARIA I: Thessaloniki, 4 - According to reports from Alexandroupolis, next Monday (September 7) markers will begin to be placed along the Greek-Bulgarian border within the framework of the recent agreement between the two countries. UNDERSECRETARIAT IN ARGOSTOLI: Tomorrow, the parliamentary deputy for Mesolongi, Mr Christos Evangelatos, is to be sworn in to head the newly formed Undersecretariat for the Recovery of the Islands, based in Argostoli. LIECHTENSTEIN: Donations continue to arrive from Red Cross branches abroad. The latest is a donation of 500 francs from the Red Cross in Liechtenstein.
