ANAGNOSTAKIS:New books: Manolis Anagnostakis, “The Follow-up Poems,” Athens 1955. MAKARIOS: Archbishop and Cypriot Ethnarch Makarios yesterday visited the leader of the Liberal party, George Papandreou, at his home in Kastri, and had a long discussion with him on the Cyprus issue. At 8 p.m. yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Panayiotis Kanellopoulos visited the archbishop at the Hotel Grande Bretagne and discussed with him the latest developments and the further handling of the Cyprus issue by the Cyprus Ethnarchy and the Greek government. CYPRIOT KNIGHTS IN FAVOR OF BRITAIN: According to reports from Cyprus, the British government has awarded a knighthood to Pavlos Pavlidis of Limassol, member of the executive Council (the British-controlled government of Cyprus) for his long service in the governance of the island and his close friendly relations with the British governors of the island. [...] Panayiotis Cacoyiannis, attorney and former member of the executive, is another Greek Cypriot who has already received a knighthood. Turkish Cypriots who have received the award are Messrs Munir and Hafit.
