Selection: Michalis Katsigeras

HUMILITY: Officials at police headquarters were perfectly correct in their decision to ban a noisy celebration the night before a beauty contest which had attracted a number of candidates for the title from numerous suburbs of the capital city. Many of the young women were accompanied by their “managers” or, to put it more bluntly, their pimps. When foreign magazines with inappropriate illustrations are confiscated from bookshops and kiosks, there is no justification for granting permits to public shows of nudity which have absolutely nothing to do with beauty. Precisely so as not to abuse the concept of beauty, as it has so often been abused of late by the trade in beauty contests, it would be a good idea to forbid all “artistic” events of this nature. CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF: Piraeus police have announced that a cat which had succeeded in biting a number of people at the ZAAE factory (in the district of Lemonadika) has successfully been killed. Tests showed that it had been suffering from rabies.
