YUGOSLAVIA: Tripartite diplomatic talks between Yugoslavia, the United Arab Republic and Greece (members of the non-aligned states) ended on the Yugoslav island of Brioni today. (Yugoslav leader Josip Broz Tito had attended along with Colonel Abdel Gamal Nasser of the UAR). Greece was represented by Foreign Minister Evangelos Averof. In the official communique there was no mention of any decisions on the issues on the agenda. There was an effort to emphasize that the three foreign ministers, “mindful of the special positions of their respective countries, simply exchanged views on the situation in their regions.” In Belgrade rumors are circulating that the talks will be useful, among other things, in preparing the ground for closer cooperation between the three countries which could in the near future take the form of an alliance opposed to the existing alliances. However there has been absolutely no official confirmation of those rumors. In the communique there is no mention of the Cyprus issue, but Averof said that it was discussed in all its aspects. However he did not say whether any decisions were reached.
