GREEK CHILDREN IN 1955: New York, 8 - The director of an American aid mission to Greece announced today that over 500,000 children in Greece are undernourished and dressed in rags. Mrs Ismini Kallari, director of the American organization in Greece for the care of children who are victims of war, said the children are in great need of warm clothing and proper food. Mrs Kallari, who has been in Greece for two years, told the press about the organization’s activities, emphasizing that “children without means are easy prey for communism. When we give them aid, they show a lively interest in democracy. When they are helped they acquire faith and hope, which they are in need of in the democratic world.” GALBRAITH: Washington, 8 - On the New York Stock Exchange today there was a sharp drop in share prices after a report to the Senate Banking Committee concerning extensive profiteering which said that transactions should be made in cash. Stockbrokers cited a statement by John Kenneth Galbraith, professor of economics at Harvard University, that serious steps should be taken so that the crash of 1929 does not happen again. The losses amounted to $3 billion.
