AMERICAN AID: According to an announcement by the government, US Ambassador in Athens Mr Cavendish Cannon made an official announcement yesterday that the US government would give the Greek government $10 million as additional aid so that Greece would be able to maintain its armed forces at a standard demanded by its defense requirements without putting the country’s economic stability at risk. GREECE-BULGARIA: Sofia, 10 - Bulgarian Prime Minister Vulko Chervenkov, in a speech to mark the anniversary of the September revolution, has made the following statement: “I can say with satisfaction that efforts to restore diplomatic relations with Greece have been crowned with success. Issues still pending between us and Greece can be settled favorably by both countries.” GREECE AND THE USA: According to a reliable source, following repeated demarches from the Soviet government, presented by the Soviet ambassador in Athens, Mr Sergeyev, the Greek government has finally given its approval, on condition of mutuality, to the appointment of a Russian naval attache to the Soviet Embassy in Athens.
