CYPRUS STRUGGLE: Nicosia, 7 – Four incendiary bombs exploded today in British Royal Air Force (RAF) depots near Nicosia. The fires were immediately extinguished without causing any damage. A British spokesman refused to release any information about the explosions, particularly regarding their exact positions, but simply said that the bombs exploded far from any aircraft. He added that it was clearly an act of sabotage committed by Cypriot workers, despite the searches to which they are submitted before being allowed within the perimeter of the depot. About 1,000 Cypriots who work at NAAFI (the official trading organization of British military forces) in Cyprus, today declared a 24-hour strike calling for improvements in pay and better working conditions. The strikers gathered outside the NAAFI offices, where the wives of British soldiers come to do their shopping. CYPRIOTS’ HUNGER STRIKE: London, 1 – Ten Cypriot political prisoners yesterday began a hunger strike in protest at their imprisonment in Britain, according to an announcement by the London bureau of the Cyprus Ethnarchy. They are demanding that they be transferred to Cyprus.
