COMMUNIST SMOKESCREEN: United Nations, New York (From our correspondent Mr A.A. Antonakakos) - From reports from Nicosia, Cyprus to The New York Times from the latters correspondent in Athens, Mr Sedgwick, we have been informed of a statement by Archbishop Makarios that the Cypriot leadership would not reject assistance from the Soviet Union in the debate on the Cyprus question at the United Nations. We have also been informed of the Cypriot peoples intention to raise the issue before the next General Assembly next fall. (...) With Russia as Cypruss advocate, the average American at this time is ready to agree that the Cypriot leadership is a communist smokescreen. GREECE-BRITAIN: On the occasion of the arrival in Faliron Bay of the British cruiser the Glasgow, with Admiral Lord Mountbatten aboard, the wife of the British naval attach in Athens, Mrs Selby, is to give a luncheon in honor of Lady Mountbatten and her daughter Pamela. Only ladies will be invited to the luncheon. CONGRATULATIONS: A number of telegrams have been arriving at the prime ministers office from parents expressing their gratitude for the governments decision to commission the publication of new textbooks that will contribute to the national, religious and family-oriented education of their children.
