Selection: Michalis Katsigeras

COMMUNIST DANGER: The leader of the National Radical Union, Mr Constantine Karamanlis, has addressed the following message to the Greek people on the eve of parliamentary elections: “Tomorrow you are all being called upon to express your sovereign will. I am convinced that the Greeks are possessed of sufficiently cool heads and political maturity, and I am certain that the elections will be carried out with the dignity and order appropriate to a truly democratic country. The electoral struggle has turned into a struggle waged by the nation against communism. No one has the right to absent himself from that struggle. No Greek man or woman should show less faith in Greece than that showed by communists in communism. No vote should be cast in vain for candidates who have absolutely no chance of winning. Every vote not given to us is given to communism. With faith in victory, I predict a better future for Greece.” ANNA SYNODINOU: The actress Anna Synodinou was presented with the Marika Kotopouli Prize yesterday evening at the Rex Theater.
