Selection: Michalis Katsigeras

OLYMPIAKOS SOCCER CHAMPIONS: For the third consecutive year, and for the 13th time in its history, Olympiakos has won the Greek championship, thanks to its victory over Panathinaikos (1-0). The latest match, the fourth in a row between the two teams, was played at the AEK stadium before a crowd of 12,000 people, with a referee and linesmen from Switzerland. Given the importance of the match, tensions ran high throughout; players of both teams were fighting till the end. In the first half, the Olympiakos players, with the wind in their favor, led the field, while their opponents launched occasional dangerous counterattacks. Between the 25th and 35th minute, the Athenians were dominant; Polychroniou missed the best opportunity of the first half, shooting wide of an unguarded goalpost. In the second half, PAO did not exploit the advantage of the favorable wind, as it conceded the sole goal of the match in the first minute to Mesolongitis. He got the rebound from an Apergis save after a shot by Yfandis. The referee denied a penalty for Panathinaikos two minutes from time, when Soulis held Linoxylakis. The PAO players mobbed the referee demanding a spot kick and some of them kicked him.
