GREECE-SYRIA: (From our correspondent in Beirut, P.V. Peklaris) The welcome accorded to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sophocles Venizelos in Damascus was as warm as the one he had received in Lebanon. (...) Venizelos assured General Fawzi Selo of the true goals of Greek-Turkish cooperation and the desire on the part of both Greece and Turkey to see the Arab states organize their defenses in order to confront the communist threat.

GERMANS: According to a telegraph yesterday from Berlin, it was announced that 200 former German parachutists, from the so-called «Green Devils,» yesterday celebrated the 11th anniversary of their invasion of Crete. The Germans are always narrow-minded. The Battle of Crete was in fact what made them lose the war, yet they keep celebrating it, perhaps to remind themselves of the greatest barbarity they have ever perpetrated. RELEASE OF PRISONERS: Yesterday the first Justice Ministry decisions were enacted at women's and other prisons, by which 69 women and six men were released, following a proposal by the committee. MEAT: As of today, by special exception (Ed. note: obviously because of the feast of St Constantine and St Helen) meat will be allowed to be sold, while restaurants will be permitted to prepare and serve meat dishes to their customers. However, meat will not be on sale tomorrow.
