PATISSION STREET: A person walking along Aeolou Street toward Hafteia in the direction of Patission Street meets with a truly strange sight: scaffolding around construction sites. Throughout the city there is a building boom, but here in particular the relatively wide street makes the phenomenon even more impressive. The face of Athens is rapidly changing, at a rate that is unprecedented in its history. IBM 610: New York, 21 – The company International Business Machines (IBM) has announced that it has succeeded in making a small-scale electronic brain capable of solving the most difficult problems. Known as the IBM 610, the computer is the size of a small piano and can easily fit in an office. ASIAN FLU: This country is experiencing a second wave of the Asian influenza epidemic, which has now become widespread. There are no official statistics and many of those with a mild bout of the illness are not even reporting it to doctors. Even when doctors are called in, they rarely report to the health authorities the number of cases they have treated.
