TERRORISTS: London, 22 - The British are having a difficult time in Cyprus. That is the conclusion one could draw from a lengthy report published in the newspaper The Daily Herald by the paper’s Nicosia correspondent. “What British civilian and military staff who are settled on the island are wondering at this moment is where the next bomb will be set off. So far these bomb attacks have caused 600,000 pounds’ worth of damages. The terrorists,” continued the British journalist, “are aimed at forcing the British authorities to abandon their new base in the Middle East on which they are to spend 50 million pounds. However, the makeshift bombs are aimed at shaking the morale of the British families settled in private homes. The army,” he continues, “cannot gather 3,000 women and children in one place and a large police force is not required to guard them.” THEATER: (From a review by Emilios Hourmouzios of Corneille’s “El Cid” by the Theatre National Populaire of France, directed by Jean Villar): “(...) Mr Gerard Philippe, who played Rodrigo, performed with all the reserves of charm he has acquired from his leading roles in the cinema, so his brilliance could not be faulted, not even where that was possible.”
