RESOLUTION IN PARLIAMENT: Yesterday’s session of Parliament was taken up with a debate on the recent acts of vandalism perpetrated by the Turkish minority in Cyprus against Greek Cypriots. The following resolution was unanimously adopted: “The Parliament of the Hellenes unanimously declares the Greek people’s outrage at the acts of vandalism in Nicosia against their Cypriot brothers and the fraternal support of the entire nation with the heroes of the Greek island... These repeated acts have convinced everyone that the British administration is either instigating these acts of barbarity itself or is not in any position to guarantee the lives, honor and properties of the Cypriot people, and therefore in both cases has failed as administrators of a civilized nation. The Greek Parliament sends a protest to all parliaments at Britain’s incompetence and appeals for support in putting an end to these repeated excesses that are a blight on every concept of civilization. The Greek Parliament particularly directs itself to the United Nations, asking it to take the most drastic measures at its disposal to halt these deliberately instigated clashes between the two communities that once lived together for centuries in peace and harmony.”
