GRIVAS’S DIARY: London, 27 - The British government claims to have discovered documents belonging to General Georgios Grivas (Digenis) in the form of a long diary that allegedly proves that the leader of the National Cypriot Fighters’ Organization (EOKA) is acting under the direction and orders of Archbishop Makarios of Cyprus (who was exiled by the British colonial authorities in Cyprus to the Seychelles). JIM LONDOS: 26 - The world-famous Greek wrestling champion known as Jim Londos (aka Christos Theophilou) has sent a telegram to Archbishop Dorotheos of Athens in which he expresses his deep sorrow over the hanging of British and Cypriot patriots... and states that he was willing... to hold a match in Athens and to donate the proceeds to the cause of the Panhellenic Committee for Union with Cyprus. REPATRIATION OF HOSTAGES: At 9 p.m. yesterday, the navy ship Aliakmon arrived in Piraeus from Durres, Albania, with 217 officers and men who had been taken hostage across the border during the war against the outlaws.
