Stocks posted a small decline on the Athens bourse yesterday, but it was not enough to wipe out the gains registered in the week’s previous sessions.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index fell to 2,211.04 points, shedding 0.29 percent from Thursday’s close. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index slipped 0.16 percent to end at 1,117.41 points.

Among blue chips the stocks of Motor Oil outperformed (up 5.26 percent) on news the firm is likely to be awarded the Shell tender and buy its chain of gasoline stations across Greece. OPAP also rose 1.84 percent. Worst off were the blue chips of EFG Eurobank (down 4.97 percent) and Titan cement (2.28 percent).

Turnover reached 95.6 million euros.
