NATO, Turkey warned Chief of staff slams canceling of Aegean exercise due to Ankara complaint

Greece's chief of staff issued a stern warning to Ankara and NATO yesterday after the military alliance canceled a planned exercise in the northeastern Aegean following objections by Turkey which suggested the area should be classified as a demilitarized zone.

Timid steps, but in the right direction
It's a good thing that the main opposition Socialist party has laid out its government policy proposals months ahead of the general elections. One hopes the move will set a precedent in Greece's political life. However, it would be even better if the much-awaited program spared itself the habit of cost-free promises and big words for the sake of a more down-to-earth approach.
