Embarrassing blunder
Blunders happen frequently in politics; but there is no excuse at all for the recent about-face on the reimbursement of pensioners' contributions to the LAFKA fund. As is well known, the conservative government decided to abolish the supplement because, among other reasons, it was deemed unconstitutional. The reimbursement question should have been taken care of when the supplement was abolished.
COMMENTARY
Same tune, same ending?
PASOK will today open its seventh congress, the first since George Papandreou inherited the mantle of the Socialist party under the banner: «We are changing PASOK, to change Greece.» Papandreou had earlier sketched out the main aims of the congress: renewal of PASOK's political platform, administrative structure and political staff. However, there seems to be little hope Papandreou's ambitions will be realized.
