The Cartoon Of The Day
EDITORIAL
A necessary institution
The tragedy that struck the country this summer has catapulted to center stage an issue that should feature at the top of the political agenda: the environment. The absence of long-term planning and the irresponsibility of Greece's two mainstream parties on environmental issues during the previous decades are now a threat to the country's integrity.
COMMENTARY
Mourning becomes Olympia
Ultimately, there may even be some benefit from the destruction by fire of the exquisite landscape of ancient Olympia. For perhaps it is better for us to acknowledge the fact that our State is unable to protect even one of the greatest monuments of world heritage rather than live with the delusion that it is incompetent only when it comes to protecting the lives of «anonymous» citizens.
