Uncovering the wrongdoers
Recent allegations that Siemens, the Munich-based electrical and industrial engineering giant, paid over 100 million euros in kickbacks to Greek political parties in order to secure telecommunications and other contracts are extremely serious. The scandal surfaced following an investigation into bribery allegations, launched by state authorities in Germany and the United States. Both countries have very tight regulations to fight corruption.
COMMEMNTARY
Unreal City
Unreal City, Under the brown fog of a winter dawn, A crowd flowed over London Bridge, so many, I had not thought death had undone so many. Wherever I went in London, these lines from T.S. Eliot's «The Waste Land» followed me. In underground railway tunnels, like corridors leading to the tomb of some long-forgotten pharaoh; on the many bridges crossing the Thames; in museums, theaters, pubs, stations and streets.
