Education’s dynamic is still there
The fact that a foreign country is inviting Greek universities to organize postgraduate programs tells us two important things. First of all, it tells us that Greek tertiary education has not lost its dynamic, even if it has been badly hurt by certain fixations that seem to prevail in the sector. Secondly, it shows us that Greece can play a significant role in the global education market, both by importing and exporting educational services.

A grim forecast
The annual presentation of the state budget reminds us of the old saying about second marriages being the triumph of hope over experience. In life, a second chance might be all one needs to get it right, but in drawing up budgets, our governments have managed to get things wrong time after time. They have never managed to meet their own forecasts. (Which raises the question of why they bother - is it the triumph of ritual over substance, perhaps?)
