As polls reveal public discontent with both ND and PASOK, Karamanlis said to be planning reshuffle

As opinion polls show the Greek public to be increasingly critical of both main political parties, sources told Kathimerini over the weekend that Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis is preparing a reshuffle to inject new life into ruling New Democracy but has no plans for early elections.

The time has come to face reality
An end must be put to the uncertainty that is gripping the country. In such times, when global markets are being shaken to their core, we in Greece cannot have a government or a local market that appears frozen to the spot simply because everyone is waiting with bated breath to see whether we will see a Cabinet reshuffle or go to the polls. The government has the support of Parliament and Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis can and must govern the country.

You can’t bank on anything...
People are getting very, very worried about the consequences of the financial crisis that is rocking the United States and which this week began to shake Europe. With the news of one bank after another being rescued by government intervention in the United States and Europe, Greeks are wondering what is happening to their banks and their deposits. Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis has repeatedly said that the crisis will not affect the Greek banking sector.
