Traffic rules get stricter Cabinet approves bill to police roads, but eases penalty hikes

The Inner Cabinet yesterday approved a stricter set of traffic rules aimed at removing Greece from the European Union's list of most dangerous road networks, but the ruling conservatives seem to have softened their stance on reckless drivers by keeping penalty hikes low.

Necessary changes to civil service
The new code for civil servants which will be introduced by the Interior Ministry is expected to bring about far-reaching changes. The 169 articles of the soon-to-be-launched code are designed to deal with the chronic problems that beset the civil service, such as staff evaluation, transfers and the process of awarding permanent status to employees.
