Call for later museums
Tour guides say early afternoon closure at most sites unfair to visitors

Greece's tour guides are pressing authorities to extend the opening hours of museums and archaeological sites, arguing that the 3 p.m. closing time enforced at most sites prevents them from doing their jobs properly and deprives many tourists of the chance to see the country's treasures.

EDITORIAL
Tourism, an ailing industry
We think of tourism as Greece's heavy industry. If this is true, then museums and archaeological sites are its factories. These, however, constantly operate below capacity. Sometimes it is the staff that is on strike and padlocks the gates of the sites. Sometimes it is the Culture Ministry's fault for failing to pay the guides what they're due.
COMMENTARY
A lady named Marguerite
When Kathimerini revealed the seedy side of the art market a few weeks ago, it certainly did not expect to deliver a major blow to forgers and irresponsible traders. For years we have known that forged artworks or works whose origins are somewhat hazy have been bought and sold at even the most prestigious auction houses. We know that the people who buy these works - at no small cost - do not want to hear that they have been tricked.
