Security cannot be toyed with
Despite everything that has happened over the last few months, there are still people in the state machinery who refuse to see that the country is experiencing a serious crisis of public safety. They may not realize it but citizens are all too aware of this sad state of affairs. Their displeasure and concern has been recorded in a number of opinion polls. It is about time politicians as well as the high-ranking officials that make the decisions in the security forces understand that this is not the time for half-measures, nor does the situation call for the unjust sacking of decent policemen merely as a public relations exercise.
