EDITORIAL
The Internet is a double-edged sword
Every great technological leap is a double-edged sword that brings positive and negative changes to society. In other words, what goes for fire also goes for the Internet. The Internet is a powerful tool of communication and education, especially for the young, but it can have undesirable side effects. It can get some children hooked.
COMMENTARY
Amateurish reaction
A suicide attempt is more than rare in Greece's political history. People naturally thought that there must be something serious behind the act. They found it hard to believe that the Culture Ministry general secretary's affair with his assistant could be the sole reason for it. Most suspected an economic scandal.
OPINION
Historic building now derelict
Georgiou Gennadiou Street, a small and ungainly thoroughfare connecting Academias and Feidiou in downtown Athens, leads directly to the old Greek Conservatory, for many years one of the capital's many ruins. There would be nothing new about this in Athens were it not for the fact that this particular building is of special historical significance, plus the fact that a Culture Ministry decision for its renovation has remained pending since 2006.
