Two in three want to leave due to worsening traffic, pollution, poll shows

Two in three Athenians are unhappy with life in the capital and believe conditions have deteriorated over the past few years due to increasing traffic congestion, inadequate garbage disposal and rising air pollution, according to the results of a poll made public in yesterday's Kathimerini.

Letting the big fish get away
This is a crucial phase for Greece, as various alleged scandals will either be exposed or covered up. Investigations into the Greek citizens implicated in the Siemens bribery allegations - mainly during the socialist PASOK administrations - are progressing. In the case of the German industrial giant, it will be hard to cover up the actions of the suspects here, as most of the evidence comes from abroad.

No place for refugees
Greece's treatment of refugees and asylum seekers is drawing serious criticism from other European countries and international organizations. The issue, which is not widely covered in Greece, highlights the problems that pertain to the issue of political asylum in Europe as a whole but also to the structural problems that plague Greece on so many levels.
