Syntagma blast claimed Revolutionary Struggle says it placed bomb in protest at economic policies

Revolutionary Struggle, the most active extremist group in Greece since the arrest of members of November 17 in 2002, yesterday claimed responsibility for the bomb that exploded outside the Economy and Finance Ministry in central Athens last week.

A revealing poll by Eurobarometer
The «no» vote by France and the Netherlands to the referendum on the European Constitution six months ago was not just a one-off reaction. The findings of the latest Eurobarometer survey show that citizens of European Union member states are increasingly cautious at the prospect of further EU enlargement. This applies particularly to the accession of Turkey, which Europeans clearly oppose.

Political irresponsibility
Andreas Papandreou's unforgettable phrase of the early 1980s «PASOK in government, people in power» seems to have been adopted by his son, the party's current leader. In response to any attempt by the government to make changes in public administration, labor laws or the social security system, George Papandreou calls for «the agreement of all concerned» as a condition for his party's approval.
