Fresh hope for ND in graft probe
LAOS indicates that it will not vote in favor of prosecuting ex-Minister Pavlidis in Tuesday’s vote

New Democracy appeared more confident yesterday that its former Aegean Minister Aristotelis Pavlidis will not face further action over corruption charges, mainly because the right-wing Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS) hinted that it would not vote in favor of having his immunity lifted.

EDITORIAL
No room for error in economy
The great difficulty that the government appears to be having in its efforts to calculate the exact amount of the 2008 budget deficit clearly demonstrates the complete incompetence of the people who had been appointed by the former minister of economy and finance.
COMMENTARY
Behind the slogans
We are great patriots in word but clearly not in deed. Reading the reports about the problems delaying the construction of a coast guard facility on the Aegean island of Agathonisi, I found them hard to believe. Everybody from the president of the Republic to the deputies of different parties are supposed to have «adopted» the island at a time when Ankara is attempting to question Greece's sovereignty.

A matter of life and death
Easter is a fitting time to think of the sacrifices that others have made for us, to contemplate the kind of generosity that leaves us speechless and to reflect on what we can do in our own lives to emulate, even to the smallest degree, this behavior.
