Dubious mentality
Rhetorical flourishes are the rule rather than the exception during a campaign period. However, these too must keep within limits; going beyond the bounds corrodes the foundations of democracy. Speaking at a central committee meeting yesterday, the Greek prime minister once again overstepped the mark.
COMMENTARY
Decade of uncertainty
In the wake of the bomb attacks in Istanbul - a deadly reminder of the September 11 terrorist blitz, particularly for European nations - the future looks more unpredictable than ever. The current decade will be a decade of uncertainty, with all the political, economic and social implications.
OPINION
The end of innocence?
It is not just preposterous and abhorrent. It is also a rupture in the child's growing process through which one can discern an unexpected hell - a world of perversion and psychological, sexual and financial exploitation. Before seeing it for themselves, a healthy mind would have found it difficult to imagine - a Eurovision song contest for children. Youngsters are moulded by show business bosses into the kitschiest type of talentless stars.
