Aircraft cabin lost pressure before crash Experts say passengers were unconscious

The Cypriot airliner which crashed north of Athens, killing all 121 passengers and crew, suffered a loss of cabin pressure which rendered virtually everybody on board unconscious before the plane ran out of fuel and slammed into a mountainside in Grammatiko, the head of the accident investigation team said yesterday.

Tax evasion
Alarm bells started ringing for the government when the Economy Ministry demonstrated conclusively the extent of tax evasion still going on in Greece. By cross-checking the tax returns of the clients of 50 percent of the largest companies, the ministry uncovered tax evasion amounting to the colossal sum of 7 billion euros.
COMMENTARY
Peace in Jerusalem
Peace has been restored at the Jerusalem Patriarchate, or at least that is the general impression after yesterday's unanimous election of Theofilos to the patriarchal throne of the Holy City. A centuries-old correlation of forces has preserved the Greek Orthodox character of the Patriarchate, since neither the Jordanians, the Israelis nor the Americans would want a Hierarch closely linked to the Catholic or Russian Orthodox churches.
