Constitution and election rules
According to sources, the conservative government is mulling a change in election legislation. The truth is that the country needs a different electoral system that will ensure a reasonable representation of voters' preferences. One big question remains, however. Why does Greece not have a standard election system like most major democracies? Perhaps it's time that the duration of a government's tenure and the election system are determined by the Constitution.
COMMENTARY
More than a tax break
Does society want change? In a recent article, former conservative deputy Stephanos Manos, sketched the profile of his affluent friends. All vote for New Democracy; none wants change. Nor does ND. Rich voters have small expectations - some tax breaks perhaps. And the party moves on, on its conservative tracks, in spite of all the pledges for reform.
