Making plans for the day after
For years, we have paid little heed to the state of our forests and natural environment. The result was that this summer's devastating forest fires came as a painful lesson. Our first priority should be to combat the still-unfolding catastrophe, but there is also another task to be undertaken. For we must ensure that the winter rains do not add to the disaster caused by the blaze. The government must implement all the necessary measures to neutralize the threat of floods, which has increased as a result of the fires.
