Pop icon set for show in Athens this September

It may seem unbelievable, but it’s true: The queen of pop, Madonna, has confirmed that Athens will be one of the stops on her «Sticky & Sweet Tour.» Following months of speculation, Madonna is scheduled to perform at the Olympic Stadium on September 27, according to an announcement on her official website. The show promises to be a mega-production, with all the spectacular special effects, choreographies and striking costumes that the pop icon is known for. Madonna will embark on her «Sticky & Sweet Tour,» which promotes her latest album «Hard Candy,» on August 23 in Cardiff, in the UK. So far, it seems that Greece will be the final stop on the European leg of the tour; other lucky European cities include Nice, Berlin, Zurich, Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, Rome, Frankfurt, London, Lisbon and Paris. In October, she will take her fascinating show, created by Jamie King, across North America. Madonna’s previous world tour, the 2006 «Confessions Tour,» was a staggering commercial success; according to the singer’s website, it was the most lucrative tour ever for a female artist. Tickets will go on sale on June 27 and prices range from 80 euros, for the arena, to 250 euros, for the VIP zone. It is highly recommended that you purchase tickets right away, as most of Madonna’s concerts are sold out. This is also the reason why ticket numbers are limited to six per person. Tickets will be available at Ticket House in Athens (42 Panepistimiou, tel 210.360.8366) and at the Aristotelous Square box office of the Olympion cinema in Thessaloniki (tel 2310.378.691).
