Dealings of kidnapped businessman checked
Police in Thessaloniki probing claims that a local businessman, missing since last Friday, has been abducted suspect the 59-year-old’s kidnappers may be disgruntled business associates. Sources said police were examining the man’s most recent business transactions and believe that the apparent abduction might have been a «settling of accounts.» The 59-year-old, active in the fuel and automotive sectors in Greece and Bulgaria, has been targeted before, having his car torched and being shot at outside his home. His family reported him missing last Friday when he failed to come home after work and his car was found to be missing. One relative said he received a recorded message on his mobile with the 59-year-old claiming to be out of the country and relaying a ransom demand of 400,000 euros.
