IMF, Berlin still divided over Greek debt but progress in sight


A meeting of the so-called Washington Group – representatives of Greece’s creditors as well as the governments of Germany, France, Spain and Italy failed to break a deadlock over the Greek debt as the International Monetary Fund and Berlin remain divided on the length of an upfront extension on bailout loans.

Golden Dawn lawmaker Yiannis Lagos was on Thursday banned from Parliament for 14 days and had his pay docked for insulting members of the House and threatening physical violence during a debate in late March.

PAOK owner indicted over pitch invasion

A court said on Tuesday that PAOK owner Ivan Savvidis and the club’s sports director Lubos Michel will stand trial for storming onto the pitch in the final minutes of the Superleague game against AEK Athens in March which was abandoned.

AEK loses handball's Challenge Cup final to Potaissa Turda

AEK defeated Romania’s Potaissa Turda at the Olympic Sports Hall of Athens on Sunday, but  its one-goal win was not enough to overturn its deficit from the first leg of the two-game final of the European Handball Federation (EHF) Challenge Cup to finish runner-up in the tournament, for the first time in the Greek club’s history.
