Tax statement deadline is extended

Tax office queues should be shorter this year as people with annual incomes in excess of 12,000 euros will only be able to submit their statements via the Internet.

The Finance Ministry announced on Friday that the deadline for taxpayers who submit their statements via Taxisnet has been extended by one month, from June 15 to July 16, regardless of their tax registration number. Those who submit handwritten statements have until July 2 to do so.

Taxpayers who submitted their statements electronically last year can use the same code, while those using Taxisnet for the first time will received a new code soon.

Pensioners with an income of over 12,000 euros per year are spared the obligation of electronic submission.
