Tax enters power bills
In the next few days, Public Power Corporation will issue the first batch of electricity bills that include the special property tax for 2012, just like last year, except that this time the tax will be broken down in five installments, payable up to April or May 2013.
PPC has reportedly taken all necessary measures to avoid the problems in tax calculations that cropped up last year, though there is a risk of taxpayers shirking the bill given that the tax burden this year is considerably higher than previous years and the threat of having their power supply cut has been lifted.
There are already about half a million property owners who have not paid the tax for 2011 and risk confiscation of their assets.
